Dementia is not the end, it is the start of something new. This is something I believe in passionately. In Orienteering, I explore the real life experiences of a dementia carer, the challenges of caring, the enormity of bereavement. I want to raise awareness, aiming to impart skills that empower the carer. To give a voice to their experience. Too often the wider support network is neglected. Orienteering also informs the family and friends of carers, care staff, social workers and the medical profession of ways to enhance the support and care they give.
This is education, awareness training and empowerment the like of which you’ve never seen before.
